Context

Vara Fleet set out to be the operating system for car-rental companies in Dubai and the UAE — replacing the spreadsheets and disconnected tools operators juggle to run fleets, contracts, customers, finance and compliance.

(02)

The Challenge

Rental operators need everything in one place, in both Arabic and English, with strict control over who can see and do what. The platform had to model the whole business — vehicles, bookings, contracts, invoicing and compliance — while staying fast and approachable for non-technical staff.

(03)

Approach

I built a responsive web platform on a Node.js and PostgreSQL backend, organised into modules for fleet, contracts, customers and finance, with role-based access, a bilingual UI and a dashboard that surfaces the numbers that matter day to day.

Key Decisions

  1. 01

    Modular platform

Fleet, contracts, customers, finance and compliance as composable modules around one shared data model.

  2. 02

    Role-based access

Granular permissions so owners, agents and accountants each see exactly what they should.

  3. 03

    Bilingual by default

Full Arabic and English support, including right-to-left layout, for UAE teams.

  4. 04

    Operations dashboard

Live fleet utilisation, revenue and expiring contracts surfaced at a glance.
